With an athletic build, an exotic beauty, and deep cerulean
hue, Aayla Secura stood out among the many faces of the Jedi ranks.
She was a Jedi Knight during the twilight years of the order, and
operated out of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. During the Separatist
crisis that threatened to split the Republic, Secura was a member
of a 200-Jedi strong taskforce sent to the distant world of Geonosis
to rescue captive Jedi. In the massive battle that ensued, Secura
was one of the few survivors. She was brusquely marched by Geonosian
warriors into a circle of Jedi survivors to await execution. The
sudden arrival of clone trooper reinforcements spared her that fate.
Secura would then lead her own squad of clone troopers into the
thick of the Geonosian battle, her lightsaber shimmering in the
billowing dust, forming a luminiscent beacon for the trained Republic
infantrymen to follow. |

and dark.A child slave on Tatooine, Anakin and his mother Shmi were
sold by their owner, Gardulla the Hutt, to the unscrupulous Toydarian
junkdealer Watto. While in Watto's employ, Anakin learned valuable
mechanical and technical skills. He earned the reputation of being
able to fix anything. So technicaly inclined was he that at the
young age of nine, he cobbled together a working protocol droid

He had no thoughts of greed or malice in him. Though that is not
to say the boy was docile. When his adrenaline surged, Anakin had
an aggressive competitive streak. Anakin's participation in the
foolhardy sport of Podracing is testament to this. |

to protect Padmé Amidala, who was now Senator of Naboo, from
assassination attempts possibly linked to Separatists threatening
the Republic. It was the first time Anakin and Padmé had

their last parting, but she seemed aloof and far too occupied with
the more important matters at hand. This was a challenge to Anakin.
Had he been schooled in the Jedi ways from infancy, he would have
had a tighter rein on his emotions. Instead, his mind was preoccupied
with thoughts of Padmé or thoughts of his mother. He had
not mastered the detachment so necessary to the Jedi order. |

First seen in Episode 4 – A New Hope
Obi-Wan was instrumental in hiding Anakin's offspring, so
that neither the Dark Lord, nor his master, the Emperor Palpatine,
knew of their whereabouts. He took the young boy, Luke, to live
with Owen and Beru Lars, moisture farmers on Tatooine. The young
girl, Leia, was taken to Viceroy Bail Organa of Alderaan, whom Obi-Wan
had served during the Clone Wars. As the Jedi's ranks were wiped
out by the machinations of the emergent Empire, Obi-Wan went into
hiding on Tatooine. He would stay there for decades, adopting the
name of Ben. The locals would refer to him as a "crazy old
hermit," and gave the eccentric old man a wide berth.During
the height of the Galactic Civil War, Leia Organa secured plans
to the Empire's most diabolical weapon -- the Death Star. Her mission
was to contact Obi-Wan Kenobi, and bring both Kenobi and the plans
to her adoptive father on Alderaan. Captured by the Imperial agents,
Leia was unable to complete either goal. She instead placed the
plans into the memory systems of an R2 unit, and dispatched the
droid to Tatooine. The droid R2-D2 and his companion C-3PO came
into the ownership of Owen Lars. R2-D2 was adamant in continuing
his mission of getting the plans to Kenobi, and fled the Lars Homestead.
When Luke Skywalker pursued the little droid, he came face to face
with Obi-Wan.Obi-Wan explained to Luke about his father, though
the Jedi didn't reveal the whole truth to the lad. Uncertain that
Luke would be ready for the burden, Kenobi explained to him that
Anakin Skywalker was an amazing pilot, a great warrior and a good
friend. Obi-Wan attributed Anakin's death to a rogue pupil of his,
Darth Vader, who betrayed and murdered Anakin. Since, Kenobi reasoned,
Anakin ceased to be upon the emergence of Vader, what he told Luke
was true, from a certain point of view. Obi-Wan even gave Luke a
gift from his father: Anakin Skywalker's blue-bladed lightsaber.
Thus began Luke's journey into the world of the Jedi. |

Djinn Altis was a scholar of antiquity who often strained the rules

evoke the protocols of old, when the less structured Jedi order
allowed multiple Padawans-per-master, or when the Jedi abided romantic

When he, Ulic, and Tott were dispatched to Onderon to mediate the

the Beastmasters and the Onderonians. He replaced it with a prosthetic
arm from a droid which was destroyed in the battle. Like his brother,
Cay was born on Alderaan. Unlike his brother, Cay was level-headed
when it came to his abilities with the Force.
Cay was greatly dismayed when Ulic attempted to infiltrate the Krath
by turning to the Dark Side, and was caught up in the Sith War because
of it. Cay tried many times to reach his brother and return him
to the Light Side, but always to no avail. When Ulic was brought
to trial on Coruscant, Cay tried to speak on his behalf. This plea
was interrupted by the appearance of Exar Kun, who defeated the
Jedi and reclaimed Ulic. Cay continued to fight against the Sith,
and again met his brother in battle. This time, it was on Ossus,
where the Jedi were trying to rescue their libraries from the destruction
of the Cron System. There, Cay and Ulic were engaged in a starship
battle that ended when Ulic shot Cay down.
Only Cay's piloting skills kept him alive. When they met on the
planet's surface, Cay pleaded with Ulic to return to the Light.
Ulic refused, and initiated a lightsaber duel. Cay fought well,
but could not bring himself to kill his brother. This left an opening
for Ulic, who struck Cay down with a vicious swing of his lightsaber.
Cay died in Ulic's arms as the remnants of the Light Side in Ulic
were able to regain some control over his mind. However, Nomi Sunrider
cut Ulic completely off from the Force, leaving him adrift. Some
years later, Ulic remembered his slain brother by naming his starship
Cay's Dream. |

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn approached the Council with a prospective
candidate to fulfill that prophecy, Windu was hesitant. With reservations,
he agreed that the child, Anakin Skywalker, could be tested for
Jedi potential.
Though Anakin had the highest midi-chlorian count on record, and
indeed showed great potential, the Council and Windu decided that
he was not to be trained. He was too old to begin the life of a
Jedi. After Qui-Gon's death, the Council rescinded their original
decision, and granted Obi-Wan Kenobi permission to train Anakin
Skywalker. Windu, a diplomat by nature, believed in the power of
words over action. But as the galaxy found itself increasingly fragmented

She feared the use of the weapon, and later continued her dead husband's
trek through the Stenness System to deliver the Adegan crystals
to Ambria. There, she herself picked up the Jedi training that was
meant for her husband. She trained under Master Thon, who discovered
that Nomi was proficient in the use of Jedi battle meditation. Thon
also started training Nomi's daughter, Vima. When Bogga the Hutt
pursued Nomi and her Adegan crystals to Ambria, Nomi again resisted
the use of the lightsaber, but took it up to defend her Jedi Master. She
dispatched Bogga's minions, and strode further down the path to
becoming a Jedi. It is later revealed by Thon that Nomi's coming
is foretold in at least one of the Jedi Prophecies. She was later
assigned to assist Ulic Qel-Droma in quelling the civil war in Onderon
system, and eventually fell in love with Ulic. That love was short-lived,
though, for Ulic fell down the path to the Dark Side of the Force
in his attempt to penetrate the Krath. They tried to defeat the
Krath in the Empress Teta System, but were repelled. She was part
of the Great Council on Deneba, and later returned to the Tetan
System to try and persuade Ulic from his dark quest. Her love for
him proved to be lesser than his desire to avenge Arca's death,
and he left to become Exar Kun's apprentice. |

Obi-Wan Kenobi at Naboo
First seen in Episode 1 – The Phantom
Menace
A dedicated and legendary Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi has
had a long and tumultuous career that has helped shape the fate
of an entire galaxy. When he was 25 standard years old, he was caught
up in the important events of the Battle of Naboo. At the time he
was a Padawan learner, apprenticed to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
At the behest of Supreme Chancellor Valorum, Obi-Wan and his master
secretly voyaged to Naboo to negotiate a peaceful settlement to
the tense Trade Federation blockade of the planet. Aboard a Trade
Federation vessel, the scheming Neimoidians sprung a trap on the
Jedi, and attempted to kill them. Kenobi and his master escaped
and stowed away on Trade Federation invasion craft landing on Naboo's
surface.
Following his master, Obi-Wan voyaged from Naboo to Coruscant and
back during the intrigue that surrounded the Battle of Naboo. When
Qui-Gon Jinn brought a freed young slave boy, Anakin Skywalker,
before the Jedi Council, Obi-Wan was taken aback. Qui-Gon claimed
that Anakin was the Chosen One of an ancient Jedi prophecy, and
that he was to be Jinn's new Padawan learner, replacing Obi-Wan.
The council refused Jinn's proposal to train the boy. This was just
one of many disagreements that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn had
during their time together. Jinn, a proponent of the living Force
over the more serene unifying Force, had long been a maverick in
the eyes of the Jedi Council. Obi-Wan implored his master not to
go against the Council, but Qui-Gon always responded by saying that
he must do as the will of the Force advises. |

Qui-Gon Jinn at Coruscant
First seen in Episode 1 – The Phantom
Menace
A venerable if maverick Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn is a student
of the living Force. Unlike other Jedi Masters, who often lose themself
in the meditation of the unifying Force, Qui-Gon Jinn lived for
the moment, espousing a philosophy of "feel, don't think --
use your instincts." Were it not for Qui-Gon's unruly views,
he would have undoubtedly been on the Jedi Council. At the behest
of Supreme Chancellor Valorum, Qui-Gon and his Padawan apprentice
Obi-Wan Kenobi journeyed to Naboo to settle the trade dispute that
threatened the peaceful world. Aboard a Trade Federation battleship,
the Jedi were ambushed, but they managed to escape to Naboo's surface.
In the swamplands of Naboo, Qui-Gon rescued a clumsy Gungan outcast,
Jar Jar Binks, who swore a life-debt to the Jedi. Qui-Gon's compassionate
nature was such that he took the strange alien under his protection.
With his help, they journeyed to the city of Theed. There, they
freed Queen Amidala and her retinue from the clutches of the Trade
Federation, and set off to deliver her safely to Coruscant. During
the trip to the capital, damaged sustained to the Royal Starship
forced an unscheduled stop on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine. There,
Qui-Gon discovered a young slave boy named Anakin Skywalker, who
was strong in the Force. Sensing the boy's potential, Qui-Gon liberated
Anakin from slavery. During their departure from Tatooine, Qui-Gon
was nearly killed by a dark warrior, whom he suspected to be a Sith
Lord. |

It's for good reason that the Jedi Code dictates that initiates
into the Order are brought in during infancy. The tenets of the
Jedi are repeatedly reinforced during a Padawan's training, to diminish
any possibility of transgression into the dark side's seductive
grasp. Thus was the fate of Quinlan Vos, a young Kiffar from Clan
Vos discovered by the Jedi. The tightly knit clans of Kiffu at first
did not want Vos to leave his home. At a very young age, Vos showed
prodigious psychometric talent -- he could read the tenuous psychic
imprints left by living hands on inanimate objects. A Kiffar that
displayed such abilities usually served his people as a Guardian
-- a local law enforcer that protected the sector of space wherein
the twin planets of Kiffu and Kiffex reside. Quinlan's parents,
Quian and Pethros, were both Guardians, and members of the influential
Vos bloodline |

The daughter of Isolder and Teneniel Djo, Tenel Ka was raised
on Dathomir in the tradition of the other witches in Teneniel's
clan. Tenel showed great aptitude with the Force, and later attended
Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, at the same time as Jacen
and Jaina Solo. She was a reserved, distant companion to the twins,
in keeping with the strength she learned on Dathomir. When Luke
discovered the connection between Lando Calrissian's lost corusca
gems and the space station Borgo Prime, he took Tenel Ka with him
to search out any leads on the Shadow Academy. Later, she posed
with him on Dathomir as Force sensitives, and were transported to
the Shadow Academy.
There, they helped rescue Jaina and Jacen. Her Jedi training nearly
came to an end when Luke Skywalker requested that the students at
his praxeum built their own lightsabers, in preparation for battling
the Shadow Academy. Tenel Ka felt that the weapon was no the important
link, but the warrior was. She didn't focus all of her energies
in her lightsaber, which she built from an old rancor tooth. In
a practice duel with Jacen Solo, Tenel pushed herself and Jacen
to their limits. Her lightsaber failed to maintain its energy beam,
and Jacen's blade passed through it, severing Tenel Ka's left arm
above the elbow. The wound was instantly cauterized, and replacing
the hand was impossible. She travelled back to Hapes to recover
from the incident, secretly wondering about her own abilities. She
found herselve in the midst of Ambassador Yfra's treacherous plans. |

Tionne at Yavin 4
First seen in the Expanded Universe
One of Luke's first Jedi apprentices on Yavin 4, Tionne was
a near-human minstrel and historian. A native of the planet of Rindao,
she learned of the Force from her grandmother, who instilled in
Tionne the passion for ancient Jedi legends. This was unusual, for
all knowledge of the Jedi was thought to have been eradicated from
her homeworld. Because of her retellings of the Jedi histories,
Tionne's grandmother was executed by Imperial stormtroopers in a
public square. Tionne took her grandmother's stringed instrument
and fled the planet, searching for any trace of information on the
Jedi.
She had very little Force-sensitivity, but Luke Skywalker saw enough
promise in her that he invited her to help discover the ancient
Jedi teachings. She eventually became a full Jedi Knight, but her
powers were somewhat limited. Nevertheless, she put her talents
to good use, serving as a historian and administrator of the Yavin
4 praxeum. She eventually fell in love with Kam Solusar, and the
two were married shortly before the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy.
Kam and Tionne served as the caretakers of the youngest Jedi trainees
during the invasion, gathering them aboard the Errant Venture and
eventually settling them into a new base at the Maw Installation.
Tionne and Kam were ultimately among the handful of Jedi Knights
to survive the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong. |

Neema, about the Force. Neema, however, grew tired of her mother's

became the mistress, and later the wife, of an Ottethan warlord,
who eventually grew tired of her and cast her out into the rancor-filled
forests of his homeworld. Vima heard Neema's telepathic plea for
help, and set out at once to find her. Vima arrived too late to
save her daughter, and sliced the warlord in half with her lightsaber.
She succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force, and was stripped of

believed that Ulic would train her in the Jedi way, despite his
lack of contact with the Force, but was unprepared for his initial
wrath. However, Ulic realized that Vima had been sent to him for
a reason, and agreed to train her. Vima was a quick study, and soon
built her own lightsaber. However, to Ulic's dismay, Vima began to
grow impatient with the learning process. She was quickly calmed
by Ulic, who feared losing her to the Dark Side fof the Force. When
Nomi arrived on Rhen Var to take her home, Vima refused to leave
Ulic's side. Ulic, for all his despair, discussed things with Nomi
and convinced her that he had tried his best to lead Vima toward
the Light Side of the Force. When Ulic was killed by Hoggon, Vima
and Nomi saw Ulic's body disappear into the Force, and realized
that he still had the heart of a Jedi. With his last breath, Ulic
proclaimed Vima to be a Jedi herself. Vima returned with her mother,
who continued her training. |

Vodo-Siosk Bosk was a Krevaaki, a part-insect, part-crustacean
Jedi Master who trained his apprentices from a base on Dantooine.
Master Vodo was the teacher of the Jedi Knights Dace Diath and Shoaneb
Culu, and later assumed the training of Nomi Sunrider. He was an
expert at the creation of the lightsaber, and was known to be able
to create a weapon in mere days. Baas was also the teacher of the
Jedi Knight Exar Kun, before Kun turned to the Sith teachings and
the Dark Side of The Force. Despite his proficiency with lightsabers,
Baas prefered to use a simple staff which he wielded adeptly against
any lightsaber.
He augmented the staff's strength through the Force. He was greatly
troubloed by the rise of Sith power, especially because it was his
former student that was at the heart of the disturbance. He felt
that he had failed, and returned to Coruscant after the capture
of Ulic Qel-Droma. He hoped to sway the former Jedi back from the
Dark Side, but was foiled by the appearance of Exar Kun. Kun challenged
him to a duel, and Baas was brutally slain by his former student
on the floor of the ancient Senate Chamber. |

Yoda at Coruscant

Strikes Back
Yoda, the ancient and revered Jedi Master, lived his final years
hiding on the swamp planet of Dagobah. Nine hundred years old, Yoda
had trained Jedi for eight centuries, and was very powerful in the
Force. Among his last pupils were the most important (and reckless)
Jedi in recent history, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker.
In the waning days of the Republic, Yoda was a respected senior
member of the Jedi Council. Serving alongside such luminaries as
Mace Windu and Ki-Adi-Mundi, Yoda was present during the turbulent
events that would eventually unravel the centuries-old Republic
and seal the fate of the Jedi order. Yoda served an important role
in the Jedi Council.
When young Padawans began their first foray into Jedi training,
they did so under Yoda's guidance. Many of the Republic's greatest
Jedi trained under Yoda when they were children -- schooled in groupings
called clans. Once the Jedi hopefuls grew older, approaching their
teenage years, they would then be paired to an elder Jedi Knight
or Master to continue training one-on-one. |
