Avatar name: Boc

Boc at Ryloth
First seen in the Expanded Universe
Boc is one of the Dark Jedi. He has a great sense of humour and given that he can fight expertly with two lightsabers, he is frequently amused. Boc is cunning and a brash individual. Crude and loud, he is a joker, a playful person and almost clumsy. But when he needs to draw from the Force and do battle, he is formidable and is very fast with his sabers and his feet.

Avatar name: Count Dooku (1)
Rank: Dark Jedi Master
Count Dooku at Serenno
First seen in Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones
It was a great blow to the Jedi order when Count Dooku voluntarily renounced his commission. A strong-minded man, Dooku's ideas were often out of step with those of the Jedi Council, despite the fact that his former mentor, Yoda, held a lofty position in that governing body. His challenging views were often echoed by his former Padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn, another Jedi who would on occasion defy the Council. Dooku was a political idealist. He felt that the Jedi weakened themselves by serving an institution as corrupt as the Republic. After his departure, he disappeared for years, re-emerging as a political firebrand fanning the flames of rebellion in the galaxy.

Avatar name: Dark Kyle Katarn
Rank: Dark Jedi
Dark Kyle Katarn at Sulon
First seen in the Expanded Universe
Deep in the Valley of the Jedi, Kyle confronted Jerec, the very man who had killed Morgan Katarn. The two did battle, and when Kyle slew Jerec, he fulfilled an ancient prophecy. The spirits of long-dead Jedi, trapped in the Valley for a thousand years, were finally freed. With this energy unleashed, the Valley of the Jedi's worth as a weapon was effectively eliminated. Long used to operating independently, Katarn at first refused Luke Skywalker's offer to become a Jedi apprentice. Instead, he continued to serve the Alliance, now the New Republic, on many important missions. After a troubling run-in with the dark side on the forgotten Sith world of Dromund Kaas, Katarn conceded that he would benefit from Skywalker's tutelage, and joined the Jedi Master's fledgling Jedi academy.

She was once known as the Emperor's Hand -- a highly skilled assassin and operative who could hear Emperor Palpatine's bidding from across the galaxy. Trained since childhood and honed into a weapon, Mara learned self-sufficiency, piloting, marksmanship and talents in the Force while serving her dark master. One of her last missions was the assassination of Luke Skywalker. Emperor Palpatine was dismayed by the changes in Vader following the Dark Lord's lightsaber duel with his son on Bespin. Skywalker had stirred something in Vader, and the Emperor distrusted his closest agent. As a contingency, the Emperor dispatched Mara to track down and kill Skywalker.

Avatar name: Darth Bane
Rank: Dark Jedi Master
Darth Bane at Ruusan
First seen in the Expanded Universe
Darth Bane was part of the Brotherhood of the Sith, fighting the Army of Light on the far planet Ruusan. After he was poisoned by one of his own, he realised that there were too many Lords. Too many that wanted power. He hated the war they were in. The Dark Lords acted like generals, not Sith Lords. For him, the only true power was in the Dark Side of the Force, not in armies. The other Dark Lords became scared of his behaviour, he made them act "as one" in order to destroy the planet they were on and with it, the armies of their enemy. He drained the Force out of them. The Brotherhood stopped him and proceeded with their original war.

Avatar name: Darth Maul (1)
Rank: Dark Jedi Apprentice
Darth Maul at Iridonia
First seen in Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace
Darth Maul was a weapon forged by the hateful energies of the dark side to ensure the victory of the Sith over the Jedi order. A creature of pure evil, Maul had no personality beyond his ultimate devotion to his master, Darth Sidious. His goal was singular -- to exact vengeance upon the Jedi for the decimation of the Sith ranks. The Republic first came to know of Maul only as a mysterious attacker. While Qui-Gon Jinn was escorting the fugitive Queen Amidala from Tatooine to Coruscant, Darth Maul swept down from above, lunging at Qui-Gon from his rocketing Sith speeder. Maul's attack was relentless; he hammered down lightsaber strikes against the accomplished Jedi Master, forcing him back time and again. It was only the timely interception of Qui-Gon by the Queen's Royal Starship that spared him from Darth Maul.

Darth Sidious at Naboo
First seen in Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace
Behind a curtain of secrecy lurked Darth Sidious, a mysterious Sith Lord and puppet-master of the tumultuous events that brought an end to the Republic. The Sith order had been extinct for a millennium, yet somehow, two survived -- the Master Sidious, and his deadly apprentice, Darth Maul. In the waning years of the Republic, the Sith order returned, but Sidious was content to hide in the shadows. Sidious arranged for the cowardly Neimoidians to brazenly blockade and invade the peaceful planet of Naboo in protest over increased taxation from the senate. Sidious never contacted the Neimoidians directly. Instead, he relied on holographic communication. Such long distance transmissions coupled with obscuring dark robes kept his identity and location a secret to all of his accomplices.

Avatar name: Exar Kun

Exar Kun at Onderon
First seen in the Expanded Universe
Before Vader, before Maul, before Sidious... there was a Dark Lord of the Sith that cast a shadow of terror and destruction across the galaxy. The ancient forces of the Republic and the Jedi banded together to stop the torrent of the dark side, and bring an end to Exar Kun's rule. He began as a simple student, studying under the revered Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. Like the dark apprentices that would follow throughout history, a basic impatience undermined all of Kun's training. His pride did not have the boundaries that his instruction did. Eager to ascend beyond his Jedi abilities, Kun abandoned his master and journeyed to the strife-torn world of Onderon. There, he encountered the spirit of Freedon Nadd, an ancient Sith who gave him further instruction.

Sariss at Ruusan
First seen in the Expanded Universe
The right-hand of Jerec, and one of the most powerful of the seven Dark Jedi. She trains the young Yun. Quiet and reserved, you can always find her standing in a corner, studying every detail. Not by her eyes, but by her mere presence. She is probably the best sword fighter of the Dark Jedi, using a simple, sober designed lightsaber. Nothing fancy, but effective. It has no grips or knobs, only a dark grove travelling down the side. Although she rarely speaks, she always leads Jerec's troops or the other Dark Jedi on mission.

Avatar name: Ulic Que Droma
Rank: Dark Jedi
Ulic Que Droma at Alderaan
First seen in the Expanded Universe
The path of the Jedi is rarely an easy one. Perhaps one of the most trying ordeals of Jedi Knighthood belongs to Ulic Qel-Droma, hero -- and villain -- of old. Ulic, a native of Alderaan, lived four thousand years ago, when the Jedi Knights were plentiful, and the Old Republic continued to expand. Ulic's mother was a powerful and respected Jedi, but she refused to teach her sons --Ulic and Cay -- for she felt she lacked the necessary emotional distance to be an effective instructor. Denied that path for the early part of his life, Ulic instead concentrated on other areas of study. As a young man, Ulic was pure of heart and purpose. Some called him arrogant, but others said he was possessed of an unbounded confidence. Those in the higher echelons of Alderaanian society scoffed at Ulic's endless ambitions and constant successes. No one field was enough for him to triumph in -- Ulic would quickly tire as challenges became lesser and lesser, and would move onto other ventures. Academically and physically, Ulic excelled and became popular -- much to the chagrin of his naysayer's who doubted his sincerity.
