First seen in The Fellowship of the Ring
Isildur was born in the year 3220 of the Second Age in Númenor
as first son of Elendil, son of Amandil the last Lord of Andúnie.
He had a younger brother Anárion. Islidur had four sons:
Elendur, Aratan, Ciryon, and Valandil. In his youth, Isildur stole
a fruit of Nimloth before it was cut down, preserving the line of
the White Tree, and later planted a seedling in the city of Minas
Anor.Isildur together with his father and brother were saved from
the Downfall of Númenor when they fled for Middle-earth.
Isildur and Anárion landed in the south and established the
realm of Gondor, and their father landed in the north, founding
the realm of Arnor. Isildur lived on the east bank of the Anduin,
and established the city of Minas Ithil, as well as the province
of Ithilien. However, in 3428 Sauron attacked and took Minas Ithil,
and Isildur fled north to his father, leaving Anárion to
rule over Gondor. He returned with his father and the Elven High
King Gil-galad in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in 3434. His
father and brother were killed as was Gil-galad, but Isildur took
the shards of his father's sword Narsil and cut the One Ring from
Sauron's finger, destroying Sauron's physical form and winning the
war. |

name: Gil-galad
Rank: High King of Noldor
Gil-galad at unknown
First seen in The Fellowship of the Ring
Gil-galad was the last of the High Kings of the Ñoldor in
Middle-earth. An Elf of the house of Finarfin, he was named High
King of the Ñoldor in Beleriand after the fall of the city
of Gondolin and the death of the last High King, Turgon. Gil-galad's
father was Orodreth, son of Aegnor son of Finarfin, and his mother
was a Sindarin Elf. His sister was Finduilas. His father-name in
Quenya was Artanáro, Sindarinized to Rodnor, but he was best
known by his mother name Gil-galad and his epessë Ereinion.During
the assault on Nargothrond, Gil-galad, still a youth in the eyes
of the Elves, stayed behind when the company of Nargothrond set
out to fight Glaurung. He managed to escape the sack of the city
although his sister was captured, and fled to the refuge at the
Mouths of Sirion or possibly on the Isle of Balar. After the death
of Turgon, the High Kingship of the Ñoldor passed to him
as the last surviving male member of the House of Finarfin. His
great-aunt Galadriel was still alive, but women could not inherit
the title. After the War of Wrath and the end of the First Age, Gil-galad
founded a realm in the coastal region of Lindon along the shores
of Belegaer, the Great Sea. During most of the Second Age, Gil-galad
enjoyed the friendship of the Númenóreans. A great
Númenórean force helped him to repulse an onslaught
by Sauron after the forging of the One Ring. |
