Smeagol at The Shire
First Appearance: "The Fellowship of the Ring"
Smeagol, originally named Trahald, was a hobbit from a prominent
family. He was a good little hobbit, until one day he went fishing
with his cousin Deagol. While they were fishing, Deagol spotted
something under the water. Smeagol decided he wanted it very badly,
so he murdered his cousin Deagol to steal the ring. From then after,
Smeagol developed many negative traits, such as stealing and eavesdropping,
and just all around sneakiness. These got him banished from his
household. He proceeded to find shelter in his cave in the Misty
Mountains, where he was found by Bilbo Baggins, who stole his ring.
And then, the movies… |

First Appearance: "The Fellowship of the Ring"
Stole the Ring from his cousin. When Bilbo stole the Ring, Gollum,
pursued it. He was soon captured by Sauron, whom he told the name
and hometown of the ring-thief. Later, Frodo and Sam caught him,
and he ended up leading them to Cirith Ungol and into the lair of
Shelob, the monster. They escaped, however, and met up with Gollum
again at Mount Doom. Gollum attacked Frodo and bit off his ring
finger, the Ring still on it. He then fell into the fires of Mount
Doom, destroying the Ring and himself. |
