the One Ring to Frodo. On Gandalf's orders, Frodo fled the Shire,
accompanied by Sam Gamgee and later Merry Brandybuck and Pippin

and left Rivendell with eight companions. After an orc raid, he
and Sam set off for Mordor alone, and soon crossed paths with the
creature Gollum. Sam and Frodo reached the entrance to Mount Doom.
Gollum appeared and, after a brief struggle, bit off Frodo's finger
and went tumbling into the fires of Mount Doom, destroying Sauron,
the Ring, and himself. After that, Frodo returned to the Shire before
sailing over the sea with Gandalf, Bilbo, and Elrond. |
