Alpha - wave Inducer
This is a device designed to induce sleep in most humanoids. It is an electronically generated anaesthetic. The patient enters a deep dreamless sleep during which surgical procedures can be carried out without causing pain to the subject. Please note- Improper use (eg . a regular replacement for natural sleep) or overuse is not recommended and may cause harm

Anabolic Protoplasers
These devices are used to heal internal as well as external body damage without the need of opening the patient up. They use small force-fields, phase-modulated lasers, and anabolic accelerators to heal injuries quickly without any scarring afterwards. They come in a variety of sizes for different injuries. The smaller units are used for fine work, things like the eyes and ears. The larger units can heal cuts or even broken bones. They temporarily confer the advantage of Instant Regeneration to the area treated, but cannot replace surgery in serious injuries. Instant regeneration is only able to be used on minor injuries, while surgery still required for more serious injuries.

Ara Scan
This is a truth-detecting Medical scan for Humanoids.

Autosuture
The Autosuture is used to close wounds in patients. Similar to anabolic protoplaser, but it is designed to close wounds, rather than heal them.

Bandages
Starfleet's Medical department has a wide assortment of bandages. There are simple bandages made of a sterile material that does not bind with clotting wounds. Dermapatch is available in both a spray applicator, and in larger pre-formed pieces.

Biobed
This is hospital bed which has an array of bio-function sensors that oversee all bodily systems. The bed is able to be raised to allow the consulting doctor to examine the patient comfortably. At the head of the bed it has a graphic display which allows the doctor to read the patient's current status. Some models are available with restraining fields. This essentially, is the same as the Diagnosis Table.

Hypospray
The Hypospray is a hand-held device. It is used for subcutaneous and intravenous (through the vein) administration of carefully-controlled dosages of medication. The Hypospray is able to inject the patient by use of a pinpoint, high-pressure, low-volume, microscopic, and aero-suspension stream. It allows the medication to be given through the skin or thin clothing without any form of mechanical penetration.
In itself, it adds nothing to any skill rolls, but the medicines used will have different effects. The air cartridge is good for 100 injections.

Inhibitor Field
A bio-electric field which slows the progress of a disease

Internal Phase Unit
A device used for surgeries involving internal organs. Also used for transporting biological materials in and out of the nervous system, organs, arteries or veins.

Invidium
A substance formerly used in medical containment fields. Invidium fell out of general use in the 23rd century, although a few races continued its application into the 24th century. Invidium had the unusual property of being undetectable by normal internal sensor scans aboard starships. It was also highly reactive, capable of triggering spontaneous nucleosynthesis as well as malfunctions in various high power systems. The Invidium is rendered inert by flooding contaminated areas with gaseous cryonetrium.

Medical Tricorders
The Medical Tricorder is a modified TR-580 with an extra exterior medical probe and scanner attachment. As a computer, it is considered to have a level 3 complexity. It contains the following capabilities and software:
Biosampler, Bioscanner, Chemscanner, Datalink, Environmental Analysis, Medscanner, Multiscanner, Radscanner.
For its small size, the Medical Tricorder is able to maintain and store immense amounts of data in its own memory. It uses this data to help to assess conditions on site. The Medical Tricorder also has an external hand-held sensing device. This peripheral contains over 100 sensors. Effective range of the Tricorder is about three yards. The Tricorder also contains a specialised medical database that is able to provide detailed medical diagnostic tools in the field including tomo-graphic and micrographic imaging. A small diagnosis wand fits into the top of the peripheral and is occasionally used by the physician to provide close high-resolution scans. Together, these sensors allow the Medical Tricorder to make very elaborate diagnosis on any known species. With unknown species, a detailed examination is not possible in such a situation. The Tricorder limited to telling if the life-form is either sick or dying.

Microtome
An electronic instrument used to cut very thin sections of organic tissue for microscopic examinations. Useful to acquire samples of diseased tissue for medical analysis. It is essentially the same as 20th-century Microtome.

Motor Assist Bands
An electronic strap attached to damaged limbs of patients which increase the neurological impulses provided by the patient to the damaged limb. Useful for rehabilitation.

Nanosurgeons
A suspension of nano-technological assemblies that are distinctively used to survey cellular genetic damage and effect repairs.
They report, and are monitored by, the consulting physician. The successful use requires a saving roll on either Genetics or Surgery. Nano-surgeons are useful to repair additional damage that drugs (for example) cannot affect. These attempts are used to repair any internal damage that is unaffected by medications and regulation treatment.

Neural Stimulator
This device helps to jump start the CNS (Central Nervous System) of patients who have endured some form of neuro-synaptic failure. This is especially useful in the treatment of patients who have suffered a CNS shock from a high setting on a Phaser.

Neural Transducer
A medical device that provides the same function as the Motor Assist Bands above, but are temporarily and/or permanently implanted in patients to increase transmission of neural impulses from the brain to whatever area of the body the Transducers are attached to. They are frequently used for spinal cord damage patients.

Neurolink
This device allows a healthy "donor" to take over autonomic functions for a patient whom is suffering from brain stem damage.
There are two links. One link is connected to the head of the "donor". The other is placed on the head of the patient. When the neurolink is activated, the autonomic functions of the donor take control of the patient's blood pressure, respiration, heart rate etc.
If the neurolink fails, it will cause either the patient or the donor to go into autonomic fibrillation.

Physiostimulators
This device is used to increase metabolic functions in patients that show a decrease of those functions.

Plasma Infusion Unit
An instrument used for transfusions of blood, blood plasma, and/or electrolytes into patients that need them. It is used the same way blood transfusions in the 20th-century. The Plasma Infusion Unit also provides filtration of the material to be delivered.

Protodynoplaster
A device used to help in patient condition stabilisation.

Psychotricorder
A device similar to the standard Tricorder. The Psychotricorder can also be used to record past memories of a patient. Typically it is used to retrieve memories within the last 24 hours. See Medical Tricorder and/or Tricorder for any further information.

Scapels
There are 3 category to choose from:
- Traditional cutting blades with a monomolecular edge,
- Laser scalpels that cauterize as they cut, and
- Nanotech scalpels that separate tissues along cellular lines without damage.
Each has different uses.
The Monomolecular blades do not require any form of power supply. They are able to slice quickly through most matter with minimal effort.
The Laser scalpels add to the doctor's Surgery skill because they are bloodless. They can dazzle anyone who is careless enough to look into the beam. This type of scalpel, however can only cut within its focal length.
Finally, the Nanotech scalpels cause minimal agitation with the tissue but they operate slowly.

Sickbay Overhead Sensor Cluster
This sensor cluster is a circular arrangement of sensors which is located above the main Bio-Bed in sickbay. It enhances the sensors of the Bio-Bed. It can also provide an emergency containment field to prevent any form contamination. The OSC provides to the diagnosis in addition to the Bio-Bed's.

Stasis Field Generator
This device is used in emergencies when a patient is unable to be stabilised and who requires treatment that is not available immediately. It slows all the biological activity completely within the perimeter of the field. It places the patient in a "suspended animation".
Note:- it does not change the flow of time, but merely slows the metabolic processes. Therefore, a patient who is placed in stasis, is not protected from any outside attacks. The patient, however, will not be aware of any movement in time while under the influence of stasis. This occurs simply because the biochemical activity of the patient's brain is stopped.

Surgical Support Frame
Surgical Support Frames attach to a Bio-Beds. It provides aid and assistance during surgery and emergency life support. The frame is covered with biosensors, and has a large display of the surgical area. This adds to the doctor's Surgery skill (including all nanosurgery).
